Euphorbia heterophyllais used ethno-botanically as a strong purgative, antibacterial, antifungal and antiplasmodial. The plant was collected from Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu, India and the ethyl acetate extract of the whole plant was subjected to GC MS analysis after processing it as per protocol. The GC MS profile revealed the presence of some important biomolecules such as, 5,5,8a-Trimethyl-3,5,6,7,8,8a-hexahydro-2H-chromene, 7-Octadecyne, 2-methyl-, 9, 12, 15-Octadecatrienoic acid, (Z,Z,Z)-, cis-10-Nonadecenoic acid, n-Nonadecanol-, Z-(13,14-Epoxy)tetradec-11-en-1-ol acetate, .beta.-Sitosterol, 4,4,6a,6b,8a,11,11,14b-Octamethyl 1,4,4a,5,6,6a,6b,7,8,8a,9,10,11,12,12a,14,14a,14boctadecahydro-2H-picen-3-one, Betulin, Stigmasterol, .beta.-Amyrin, 1-Heptatriacotanol etc. These molecules indicate direct or indirect bearing on the medicinal role of this plant.
