Abstract

Background:Dhanwantharaarishtam is a traditional Ayurvedic herbal tonic used to improve digestion, promote lactation, and balance the Vata dosha.Aim:The study investigates the effects of Dhanwantharaarishtam, a traditional Ayurvedic tonic, on cell viability and cytotoxicity in human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) cultures. Methods:The impact of Dhanwantharaarishtam on hiPSC cells was analyzed over a 24 hour period. Results:Our results reveal significantly less cytotoxicity, with 80.1 +/- 6.7% cell viability observed at 500 mu g concentrations. Conversely, cell viability was reduced to 50.3 +/- 4.15% at 1000 mu g concentration. Conclusion:These findings suggest that while Dhanwantharaarishtam exhibits potent biological effects, including potential therapeutic benefits, its unsubstantial cytotoxic profile in hiPSC cells necessitates further investigation to elucidate its safety and potential applications in clinical settings. This study underscores the importance of rigorous evaluation of traditional herbal remedies for their efficacy and safety in modern biomedical research.
