Background:Preeclampsia (PE) is a progressive and multisystem pregnancy disorder that leads to gestational-related morbidity and mortality. Early detection and prevention of PE could help in saving mother and baby during labor. The present study was conducted to evaluate the biomarkers such as lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), uric acid, platelet count, and hematological parameters in early PE. To evaluate the biomarkers LDH, uric acid, platelet count, and hematological parameters in early PE.Methods:The study was a case-control study consisting of 100 samples, in which 50 PE cases and 50 normal controls. From each research participant, 5 ml of peripheral blood was collected in the vacutainers and LDH and uric acid levels were measured using an enzymatic method, platelet count and hemogram was performed using an autoanalyzer. Mean and standard deviations were calculated and the Student's t-test was performed using the SPSS version 20.Results:The LDH and uric acid levels were significantly higher in the PE group when compared to controls. The platelets were low in the PE group, but statistically significant difference was not observed. There was a negative correlation between LDH and platelet count in PE group. The white blood cell, mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration, and mean corpuscular volume were significantly higher in PE cases when compared to normal controls. Conclusions:The LDH and uric acid levels were significantly higher even in PE cases and the hematological changes were also observed in PE cases that could help in the planning and treatment of PE to prevent life-threatening illness.
