Structural health monitoring (SHM) is predominantly increased to identify the premature failure of structures in their early life. Additionally, heritage structures ultimately depend on SHM techniques to maintain/expand their life values. Sensors are relatively basic in their application to SHM investigations. Thus, sensor selection can influence the precision of structural components. The present study investigates a reinforced concrete (RC) beam subjected to monotonic two-point loading. The fundamental response of the RC beam under four-point bending is captured using a variety of sensors, including a force resisting sensor (FSR), a flex sensor (FLS), a piezoelectric sensor (PZS), and a microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) accelerometer sensor. The experimental investigation validates the theoretical presumptions about sensors. As a result, the MEMS accelerometer sensor outperforms other sensors on the RC beam component.
