Abstract

Squalene dietary supplementation (2%) studied in young and aged rats for mitochondrial energy status and antioxidant defense in liver. Maintained TCA cycle and respiratory enzyme activities, reduced lipid peroxidation, increased glutathione and antioxidant enzymes. Improved mitochondrial function and minimized age-associated oxidative damage. © 2007 Elsevier Ltd. © 2009 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
