Abstract

Cardioprotective effect of betaine in isoprenaline-induced myocardial infarction in rats. Betaine pretreatment prevented elevation of plasma markers (ALT, AST, LDH, CPK, homocysteine), maintained mitochondrial ATP and TCA/respiratory enzyme activities, and exerted antioxidant effects (LPO, GSH, GPx, GST, SOD, CAT). © 2008 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
