Abstract

Anti-ulcer effect of betaine evaluated in HCl-ethanol induced gastric ulcer in rats. Betaine (250 mg/kg/day for 21 days) reduced gastric lesions, juice volume, acidity, lipid peroxidation, and restored tissue antioxidants. Histopathology confirmed gastroprotective potential via neutralization of HCl and free radical scavenging. © 2010 Academic Journals Inc. © 2010 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
