This study determines the optimum drilling parameters of carbon fibre reinforced carbon (CFRC) composite materials using Grey theory. CFRC composites have wide applications in aerospace, automobile, defence and other advanced industries. The optimisation process combines Taguchi method and Grey Relational Analysis. Drilling was performed using a high-speed steel tool on a carbon–carbon composite plate in a CNC vertical machining centre. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland. © 2014 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
