Abstract

Neonatal amebiasis in 14-day-old newborn presenting with vomiting, refusal to feed, abdominal distension, and mucoid stools. Diagnosis confirmed by presence of Entamoeba histolytica. Successfully treated with IV tinidazole. Alerts possibility of NEC-like presentation in endemic areas. © 2014 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
