Abstract

Benign fibroushistiocytoma is a benign connective tissue tumor rarely seen affecting the head and neck region. These tumors were previously believed to be of histiocytic origin. Current understanding suggests the lesional cells represent fibroblastic differentiation. Diagnosis remains challenging even with immunohistochemistry due to lack of specific markers. Here, we describe a case that presented in the gingiva mimicking a reactive lesion, which was diagnosed as a tumor. © 2013 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
