Abstract

Rheumatoid arthritis in HIV patients on HAART is associated with increased adverse effects. This study evaluated uric acid, RA factor, ANA, ESR, cystatin C, urea, and creatinine levels. Significant increases in all parameters were noted in HAART-compliant patients, along with elevated uric acid ratio indices. Uric acid showed positive correlation with cystatin C, urea, creatinine, CD4, and CD8 counts. Findings suggest that elevated uric acid and inflammation may contribute to increased rheumatoid arthritis risk in HAART patients.
